Read MoreI have just got off the phone from a candidate and during the call I had a proper “laugh out loud” moment. With 24 hours to go before she interviewed for a job I’d put her forward for, we were just going through all the information I’d sent over and her parting of comment of “You’re very different……good different” had me laughing, then thinking.

Read MoreA few months ago, I was approached by a new client who wanted me to help them with a piece of recruitment. We agreed on terms of business and then they asked if they could have a free replacement if the candidate I placed didn’t work out.
Read MoreA few months ago, I went to a recruitment networking meeting and the question was asked “How is business?”. The room went silent. Everybody looked around, desperate for someone to say something which they didn’t, except little old me did, and the words “It’s really bloody tough at the moment” came out.
Read MoreOne of my clients was interviewing a couple of my candidates……After first round of interviews we had a debrief and that is when he said “One candidate is like Tigger, the other is like Eeyore. And I can’t decide if I want a Tigger or an Eeyore working for me”.

They must have felt either really desperate, sad or frustrated, maybe all three to accuse me. I took a big breath and did what most of us do…..I ‘Google’d it! And this is what I found:
Read More“Are you generation X as you don’t sound that old?” That was what a candidate said to me yesterday. I had no idea what to say other than “I still think I’m 24 but the inability to drink like I used to, and the hangovers tell me otherwise” was my response. **

But then a chat with a candidate this morning cemented the exact topic of something that I’ve been giving a lot of thought to. The Interim market.

Read MoreAs some of you may know, prior to me becoming a recruiter, I worked in the food industry and as I’ve said many times before, it’s a crazy, magical, frustrating and exhilarating industry. But I left because I’d fallen out of love with it and I needed to find something I loved again. That’s when recruitment came knocking on my door.
